I have found it hard so far to find unsigned artists or bands which I like and have good quality versions of their songs online and not only on youtube. I have decided that the kind of artist or band I want to find will be indie/rock as this is the kind of music which interests me the most.
The next step after finding an artist or band will be to ask permission to use one of their songs and then I can go from them beggining to plan my music video by using questionaires on my target audience in order to find out what it is they expect from that particular genre of music video.
